The cost of Valentine’s gifts

Saint Valentine’s day, celebrated on the 14th February, is that one special day in the year when everyone expresses their love and appreciation to the most precious people in their lives.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day can be expensive but there is no needs to be extravagant as gifts of experience or adding a personal touch to affordable gifts will mean more to the people you love than spending lots of money on lavish gifts and flowers.

There are many ways to show your appreciation for someone you care about:

  • Tell them how much they mean to you by means of a card, letter or poem, or put quotes or phrases that will brighten up their day in a personalised jar,
  • Instead of going out for dinner pack a basket filled with all their favourite treats and enjoy a picnic under the stars in a quiet area in the garden,
  • Bake a batch of heart shaped cookies and write a message on each one with frosting,
  • Buy personal gifts that have a significant meaning but still fit in your budget. A book if they enjoy reading or a customized mug filled with chocolates if they enjoy coffee,
  • Craft a small photo book commemorating some of the special times you spent together,
  • Serenade that one special person in your life with a song you wrote.
  • Remember simple gestures and simple words expressed from the heart are all your loved ones need.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.? -Helen Keller
